A Springtime Get-Away

After a wonderful celebration of Jesus' resurrection, we took off on a red-eye flight to LasVegas, rented a car and headed to Laughlin where we had a room reserved at Harrah's for eleven nights.  Yes, we took a Sunday off!
Each day we took a 'road less traveled' and explored the area and took pictures.  Our timing was perfect to catch the desert in bloom and, except for a couple of days, to catch it when it was not too hot.  I usually do not have very good luck in getting the photos in the order I want them, but I will do my best.  At some point in time, Jahna will have to show me how she did their blog....it is fantastic!

A great Colorado River view

These are the ONLY ones we saw like this - trumpet shaped

Oak Creek Canyon - wild cherry trees??

These are only a few of the sights, but I don't want to 'push my luck'.  I think I'll just leave it at this.

a few more photos...

I could not get these in the order I wanted them.... each time I clicked on 'caption' the photo would jump into the Oatman pictures.  So, Laughlin is separate from Oatman.

Jahna had the 'golden touch'

Once again we say Vaya Con Dios

....and we keep waving until they drive out of sight :-(

Surprise

In December we took advantage of one of Alaska Airlines PFD special fares and we flew in to Phoenix for a little get-away, 5 day trip.  We rented a car and drove to Laughlin where we stayed at Harrah's for twenty dollars a night.  The weather was not the greatest and we were feeling a little bummed out not being able to enjoy some of the little day trips we like to take from there.  Well, on Wednesday night we got a phone call from Jahna...."Where are you?"    "Really?! We're in Flagstaff!"
So, on Thursday we met up, enjoyed a drive on Route 66 to Oatman and then back to Laughlin where J and J spent the night (cheaper than most RV parks and even some campgrounds).  After breakfast the next morning they were back "on the road again" and we were, once again, waving goodbye.
You can see what a great surprise that was for all four of us!!

A bit of 'stuff' there!

Another pass for Whitey

Oatman's claim to fame
Quite a contrast, side by side!
Back up the road they go.... the burros and the people!

empty nest

Jahna and Joe left today for their "Northern Expedition - Two in the Far North" so our home and our driveway are feeling pretty empty now.

The happy couple

Out the road they go!  Godspeed.  We love you.

just discovered

I've just discovered my old blog while exploring my new tablet. I'll see what I remember and hopefully use this on our upcoming trip!
Hummmm. Not having success with uploading a photo...more practice needed but this is all for today.

So the photos uploaded very quickly when using the desktop!  Hopefully the little tablet will work better next time I try it.

Trees and Scenes

I'm in Rumsey with a little time on my hands so thought I would post this from last summer.  I had planned to do it then....of course.....but the wiffie was scarce and time ran out.  I do hope my photos don't go sideways.

These photos were taken in the month of May.  Since we are from Alaska, you can see why the trees and scenes here struck us as extremely beautiful.
